Reading on the grass

One of the latest favorite activity we've been doing is having a reading session in our back-yard. We take a blanket and spread it on the grass in the back-yard and read books that we take from the library. Sometimes we take a picnic basket with fruit and other snacks and have a picnic-reading outside. Kids love it and it's easy, don't even need to drive to a park, it's relaxing for me too. Sometimes we just stop and listen to the birds and count how many different sounds we can hear (birds, bugs, train wistle, lawn-mower etc). If you don't have a back-yard, you could take some books along to the park, beach, anywhere out on a nature.
